Overall, our wireless network continues to operate at more than 99% of normal in the Greater Los Angeles area. Our dedicated teams are working to fully restore the last few affected cell sites and are deploying additional network assets, as needed. This includes satellite solutions such as Low Earth Orbit Cell Trailers (LCTs) and Low Earth Orbit Communication Portables (LECPs).

We continue to monitor fire conditions in the area and are prepared to respond. As always, our focus remains on keeping our customers, their families and first responders connected.

Jan. 16, 2025, 1:00 p.m. PST

To aid in the recovery efforts, AT&T’s local mobility teams, Network Disaster Recovery (NDR) team and the FirstNet Response Operations Group™ (ROG) deployed two AT&T Super Cell on Wheels (Super COWs) to public safety's incident command post. As of yesterday, these assets have been providing dedicated connectivity for first responders as well as wireless service for customers, as network capacity allows. These Super COWs generate 10x the capacity of a normal antenna to further support those on the front lines.

We’ve also established four additional charging stations for the community, located at:

  • Collins & Katz Family YMCA: 1466 S Westgate Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90025
  • Culver-Palms Family YMCA: 4500 Sepulveda Blvd., Culver City, CA 90230
  • Pasadena-Sierra Madre YMCA: 611 E. Sierra Madre Blvd., Sierra Madre, CA 91024
  • Santa Anita Family YMCA: 501 S. Mountain Ave., Monrovia, CA 91016

Jan. 15, 2025, 7:45 a.m. PST

We recognize the vital role that staying connected plays. That’s why AT&T and the non-profit Information Technology Disaster Resource Center (ITDRC) have deployed a Mobile Connectivity Center (MCC). This connectivity resource is free to the public and will further support those affected by the wildfires with access to Wi-Fi, 16 computers and facilities to charge their devices.

The MCC will be at Malibu Bluffs Park, located at 24250 Pacific Coast Highway, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. PT beginning today, Jan. 15.

As we remain focused on keeping our customers and their families connected, we continue to prioritize the critical communications needs of the public safety community.

This includes working closely with agencies like CalFire, who recently deployed its agency-owned mobile FirstNet® cell sites in the Los Angeles area to provide added, reliable coverage on-the-go. Ideal for areas where communications may be temporarily unavailable, Compact Rapid Deployables (CRDs) can be set up in minutes by just one person, providing first responders with immediate FirstNet connectivity. FirstNet is the only network that enables agencies to own these devices, giving first responders greater command and control of their own network.

"No connection is more important than one that can help save a life, and the FirstNet team at AT&T is honored to deliver reliable, critical connectivity to California first responders and other agencies providing mutual aid as they battle the devastating Los Angeles wildfires,” said Scott Agnew, president, FirstNet, AT&T. "We're working around the clock with government and public safety officials to help those on the frontlines. Our thoughts are with the entire L.A. community, and we will continue to be there in the weeks and months ahead throughout the recovery efforts."

As of today, the FirstNet Response Operations Group™ (ROG) has responded to nine FirstNet emergency support requests from public safety.

AT&T Supports Communities Affected by California Wildfires

AT&T prioritizes first responder emergency communications with FirstNet and contributes to wildfire relief efforts, waiving wireless overage charges, matching employee donations and providing additional connectivity support.

Key Takeaways:

  • AT&T mobilizes one of the industry’s largest disaster response programs to provide additional connectivity support.
  • With FirstNet, we continue to prioritize public safety's emergency communications needs, deploying mobile cell sites dedicated solely for first responder communications.
  • We are donating funds to the American Red Cross to assist those impacted by the California wildfires.
  • AT&T is matching 100% of employee charitable contributions to the California Fire Foundation, the LA Fire Department Foundation, the California Community Foundation (CA Wildfire Recovery Fund), and the American Red Cross.

In response to the devastating California wildfires, AT&T has swiftly mobilized its extensive disaster response capabilities to help ensure continuous and reliable connectivity. We are prioritizing the emergency communications needs of first responders through FirstNet®, Built with AT&T, America's public safety network, which is being actively deployed across impacted areas to support critical operations.

We know impacted communities are suffering greatly. AT&T is waiving overage charges to provide unlimited talk, text and data for wireless customers through Feb. 15, 2025. In addition, AT&T is contributing to the Red Cross, supporting our local employees, and matching employee donations to key organizations to support these communities.

“Our heart is with the Southern California communities experiencing such devastating loss,” said Marc Blakeman, president, AT&T California and Pacific States. “We are committed to supporting wildfire relief efforts in these areas and ensuring residents and first responders have robust connectivity in this critical time of need.”

AT&T immediately contributed $100,000 to the American Red Cross to assist communities impacted by the California wildfires. AT&T also launched an employee matching gift program, matching 100% of employee charitable contributions to the California Fire Foundation, the LA Fire Department Foundation, the California Community Foundation (CA Wildfire Recovery Fund), and the American Red Cross.

We have also activated our Employee Relief Fund (ERF), a 501c3 public charity aimed at supporting our employees impacted by disasters and facing significant personal hardships. In addition to these ongoing charitable contributions, we will continue working with local communities in the weeks and months ahead to support anticipated recovery efforts.

Providing reliable access to connectivity is critically important. Our network in Southern California is holding strong through the challenges. We are working quickly to restore service in the limited areas experiencing disruptions, and we have deployed back-up power generators throughout the impacted communities to ensure seamless communications.

As part of mobilizing one of the industry’s largest disaster response programs, we are working with local governments and community relief organizations to provide free public access to the internet and charging stations.

Other efforts include:

  • Deploying assets to provide service to our customers via satellite technology.
  • Equipping multiple evacuation zones with assets that offer Wi-Fi access, providing a way for affected individuals to stay connected with loved ones.
  • Strategically positioning generators to maintain continuous operation of our cell sites.
  • Charging stations for the public at:
    • The Westwood Recreation Center at 1350 S. Sepulveda Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90025.
    • The Pasadena Convention Center at 300 E. Green St. Pasadena, CA 91101.
  • Public WiFi access at the Arcadia Community Center at 375 Campus Drive, Arcadia, CA 91006.

Additionally, we continue to prioritize public safety's emergency communications needs with FirstNet®, Built with AT&T, the nation's public safety network. So far, public safety agencies have made seven requests for emergency support, and the FirstNet Response Operations Group™ (ROG) is deploying mobile cell sites dedicated solely for first responder communications.

As part of mutual aid efforts, public safety agencies in the area are also deploying their own FirstNet mobile cell sites. FirstNet is the only network that allows agencies to own and self-deploy these devices, providing greater command and control of their network and dedicated connectivity in just minutes.

As a reminder to our AT&T Postpaid & Prepaid customers in affected areas, we are waiving overage charges to provide unlimited talk, text and data through Feb. 15, 2025. We’re also waving various charges for residential and business wireline orders placed through Jan. 7, 2026.

Updated Friday, Jan. 10, 2025, 10:40 a.m. PST

As a series of wildfires in Southern California persists, we continue to see impacts to our wireless network in parts of Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego and Ventura counties. Customers in affected areas may also be experiencing home phone and internet service disruptions, because of commercial power outages.

We have one of the industry’s largest disaster response programs to help keep wireless and wireline communications running during times of disaster. Our teams are being dispatched where it is safe to do so, though active fire areas and evacuation zones remain inaccessible until conditions improve. We are continuously deploying and refueling generators to provide service continuity to our customers until commercial power is restored, and we have set up staging yards throughout the region, equipped with additional network assets and generators.

Our dedicated team of meteorologists is constantly monitoring weather patterns to provide accurate forecasts and timely updates. This enables our teams to effectively respond to the evolving situation. As conditions allow, we will continue to deploy these resources to impacted areas.

Our FirstNet Response Operations Group™ (ROG) – led by a dedicated team of former first responders – is working around the clock to support public safety’s emergency communications and has liaisons engaged with local and federal agencies. In coordination with public safety officials, dedicated portable assets from the FirstNet fleet have been deployed to support firefighters and other first responders on the front lines where they need connectivity the most.

We’d also like to express our gratitude to the men and women who put their lives on the line, day in and day out, to protect and support our communities.

As a reminder to our AT&T Postpaid & Prepaid customers in affected areas, we are waiving overage charges to provide unlimited talk, text and data through Feb. 15, 2025. We’re also waving various charges for residential and business wireline orders placed through Jan. 7, 2026.

We understand how critical it is for our customers to stay connected, especially during a disaster. We will continue to provide additional updates as our work continues.

Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2025, 12:05 p.m. PST

Our thoughts are with the communities impacted by the devastating wildfires in Southern California. Customers in parts of Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego and Ventura counties may be experiencing wireless service disruptions, primarily due to power shutoffs.

To support first responders on the front lines, the FirstNet Response Operations Group™ (ROG) is deploying portable network recovery assets from the FirstNet fleet as requested by local public safety. These assets help ensure first responders have the dedicated connectivity they need to support emergency communications.

We’re also in contact with the local power companies to help maintain service for those affected. As always, our top priority is keeping our customers, their families and first responders connected.

During the recent Caldor and Dixie wildfires, our team worked to keep our customers and first responders connected, including deploying two FirstNet** satellite COLTs (cells on light trucks), and supported evacuees at community shelters.
